Send the CNPJ with or without formatting, numeric or alphanumeric, with your key in the x-api-key header. The check digits are validated before the lookup.

Store the legal name, check the registration status or fill in the customer's address. A CNPJ that is not found returns 404 and uses no credits.

Federal Revenue open data
The data comes from the public CNPJ dataset published by Brazil's Federal Revenue and is refreshed every month. It is not a real-time lookup: the response reflects the latest published dataset.
Alphanumeric CNPJ
The Federal Revenue started issuing CNPJs with letters in July 2026. The API already validates and looks up both formats, with or without punctuation.
Masked partner CPF
The CPF of an individual partner is never returned in full. You get the name and role without exposing the document.

Frequently asked questions
What data does the CNPJ lookup return?
Legal name, trade name, registration status and its date, head office or branch, activity start date, main and secondary CNAE codes, legal nature, address, email and phone numbers, share capital, company size, Simples Nacional and MEI tax regime options, and the partners and administrators list (QSA). A partner's CPF is always masked. New fields may be added over time: ignore the ones your integration does not use.
Where does the data come from and how often is it updated?
From the public CNPJ dataset published by Receita Federal (Brazil's federal tax authority), updated monthly. CPFHub.io does not query Receita Federal in real time for CNPJ: the data reflects the latest monthly dataset and may be out of date until the next update.
How much does a CNPJ lookup cost?
The same as the CPF Simple Lookup: 1 credit per CNPJ found, from the same plan balance, including the 50 monthly credits of the Free plan. A CNPJ that is not found (404), invalid (400) or hits a temporary failure (503) does not use a credit. See /en/pricing.
Can I look up many CNPJs at once?
Yes. The Bulk CNPJ Lookup takes up to 10,000 CNPJs per request, through the API (POST /cnpj/bulk) or a CSV file in the dashboard, and only charges for the CNPJs found.
Does the API accept the alphanumeric CNPJ?
Yes. Besides the numeric CNPJ, the API accepts the alphanumeric format (12 characters with letters and numbers, plus 2 check digits) that Receita Federal started issuing in July 2026. Send it with or without formatting.
Is there a request limit?
Yes. The CNPJ lookup shares the per-minute limit of each API key with the CPF Simple Lookup: 30 requests per minute by default, and each batch counts as 1. Above that, the API returns 429 with the Retry-After header.
Can I look up CNPJs without writing code?
Yes. In the CPFHub.io dashboard, the Lookups menu has CNPJ Simple, for one CNPJ at a time, and CNPJ Batch, to upload a list. CPF and CNPJ lookups appear together in the History.
